Deadline approaches for Celebrate Aberdeen Awards

with No Comments

The chance to submit an application for this year’s Celebrate Aberdeen Awards is drawing to a close with only days to go before the submission deadline of Friday, June 21st.
Open to charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups, the awards recognise and celebrate individuals and organisations who have made an outstanding contribution to life in Aberdeen.
This year, there are 11 award categories ranging from large and small organisation of the year, through to volunteer, staff member, fundraiser and young supporter of the year to the heart of the community award.
“Aberdeen is blessed with so many fantastic charities, voluntary groups and social enterprises which make an enormous difference to the lives of thousands of people across the city and beyond,” said Celebrate Aberdeen founder Morven Mackenzie. “This is an opportunity to recognise their efforts and thank them publicly for what they do. We’ve already received some fantastic submissions and it’s humbling to read people’s stories.
“We urge any groups who have not yet submitted an application to consider giving it a go. Our finalists last year came from a wide range of organisations – some of them very small, so no one should be put off from giving it a go. Everyone really is in with a chance.
This is the second year that the awards have taken place. The inaugural event at AECC was attended by 475 people and this year numbers are expected to be even higher.
Thanks to the generosity of Celebrate Aberdeen’s sponsors all finalists attend the event for free. This year’s awards ceremony on September 14th will be one of the first events to be held in P&J Live, Aberdeen’s state-of-the-art new events complex.
The awards ceremony is the second event in the annual Celebrate Aberdeen calendar. The Union Street parade, which began in 2011, will take place on Saturday, August 24th and will form part of a full weekend of entertainment. Last year, more than 5,000 people associated with more than 150 organisations took part.
Details on how to apply for the awards can be found on the Celebrate Aberdeen website at https://www.celebrateaberdeen.org/awards/how-to-apply

This year’s principal Celebrate Aberdeen sponsors are CNOOC International, Wood, CNR International and Chrysaor.
