Jeanette Forbes and PCL Group is looking forward to welcoming guests to visit them aboard the restored fishing vessel Isabella Fortuna which they are bringing to the Portsoy Boat Festival this weekend.
Isabella Fortuna was built by James Weir of Arbroath for local skipper John Smith. When she was launched on 15th September 1890 she was the largest yawl in the harbour. Intended for line and drift-net fishing she was powered by two big lug sails, a jib and five oars.
For the next 86 years she was a working fishing vessel for successive generations of the Smith family until she was bought by and restored by the Wick Society in 1997.
The Society is totally reliant on donations for her upkeep and PCL Group is delighted to provide its support for this fine example of Scotland’s rich fishing heritage and to share the opportunity with our clients.
