XOXO Floral Boutique, a bespoke designer florist in Peterculter, Aberdeen, is celebrating a successful 19 months in operation with a five-figure investment to further grow and diversify the business.
Launched at the end of 2014 by mother and son team Dona and Andrew Gibbon, with a view to reinvigorating and shaking up the conventional floristry industry by bringing a different designer florist concept to the North-east, XOXO has seen business grow month on month since, far outstripping the projections of the two directors.
They now want to confirm XOXO’s position as an innovator and market leader with the investment which is being used to introduce a new range of bouquets, add a homeware line, announce new retail partnerships and launch a new retail website.
“We’ve introduced a fantastic new line of bouquets which take inspiration from major design hubs around the world, including London and Paris, while retaining the bespoke and modern XOXO flair which our customers love,” said Dona. “XOXO is also launching a homeware collection, specialising in crafted glassware which we’ll sell on-line and from our shop and we have teamed up with Aberdeen-based patisserie Almondine to offer our customers a range of handmade macarons which we think particularly complement our wedding and event service.”
XOXO is also responding to consumer demand by expanding its highly popular floristry school.
“Demand for the XOXO Floristry Schools has been overwhelming since it launched and classes sell out within hours of being announced,” continued Dona. “To meet this demand we have expanded the variety and frequency of classes we run every month. We also plan to offer more private classes and introduce full 2 and 4-week long courses covering a broad range of floristry skills.”
Andrew said the additional investment is a major step in the business’s ongoing growth strategy.
“We set out to differentiate ourselves right from the start, offering creative and bespoke design and a unique brand supported by the highest level of customer service.
“We’ve had a hugely successful period since launch, growing a fantastic customer base and establishing our position in the retail and wedding markets. We feel it’s important to continue to invest, develop and grow the business, especially in a crowded market place, to insure we remain different and unique from our competitors. To support this we have invested significantly in our new website which we think features some of the best aesthetic design and functionality in the industry.”
